Chrysalides

from To Make Sound by Total Wife

/

lyrics

Caterpillars concoct chrysalides,
among the ivies nature provides;
from which, we burst and molt
our antiquated skins.

Oversaturated visions of hues,
peeled orange flowers begin to bloom
their succus drips slow
over stem and thorn.

I'd wade in and steal each grain of salt until
a sea of fresh water remained, just so that you
would never thirst.

Floral fantasy, fill my nose to its brim
synesthetic saffron and fresh linen.
When petals pulls off, you love me not.
